Story
-----
How did I came up with this "another super-weapons" addon?
Well obviously the other ones I didn't like, so I made mine.
Not that they are bad, but combining three patches in one
usually is a real pain in the arse...try it...so you had to play
with one or two extra weapons. Well here is totally different
deathmatch experience, which is not just "ok, now you can shoot
dogs from your grenade launcher..." :) This addon was NOT made for
one minute fun, but for continous deathmatching with this new great
weapons that personally I like very much. It adds new tactics and
same old deathmatch map (we play dm6) just becomes totally different
playing arena (tactics-wise). Bad players with brains turn to good
players (that's what I noticed after we tested this addon for alot).
So good luck and hope that this one will keep you interested for
more than 10 minutes :)
Description of the Modification
-------------------------------
This patch does the following:
√ Changes all weapons to absolutely different behaviour
√ Changes many world things like health box values,
names for weapons / some ammo, respawn timings, etc.
√ Corrects iD's cells pickup bug
√ Maximum amount of health is now 900 (you'll need it),
health rott above 200 is off.
√ Useless green armor now is protection Satellites :)
√ Death messages are now more accurate than original iD's
(i.e. when someone dies on your grenade and you have shotgun
by that time it was reporting
"player chews on Piramida's boomstick".)
√ Removes item and health pickup messages so that they won't
distract your attention - they are useless in dethmatch anyway...
√ MOTD notification for 10 seconds telling everyone joining your
server that it's patched with dpt.
√ It's completely server-side, and doesn't have any
bindings or impulses(*)
- just same old shoot button :)
(*) - except impulse 100, check 6
New Weapons
-----------
1. Axe - Now modified to grappling hook, originally taken from
Capture The Flag addon by Zoid. Let's you hook to ceiling or
jump across open areas or whatever other uses you'll find.
Just hold attack key to pull yourself.
2. Shotgun - Still is shotgun, though 2.5 times stronger and
more like Super shotgun.
3. Super Shotgun - Now is Destructor, one of the most powerfull
weapons here... Fires three rockets, uses up 3 rockets as well.
4. Nailgun - Now is Stuffer. Stuffs enemy with nails. See 5.
Uses 1 nail.
5. Super Nailgun - Now is Super Stuffer, stuffs enemy with nails
two times as fast as Nailgun. The nails in victims body inflict
damage for about 20 seconds or untill the victim dies, then
they explode. Amount of damage and strength of explosion depends
on the amount of nails inside victims body :) heh, it does look funny.
Uses 2 nails per shot.
6. Grenade Launcher - Now is Mine Launcher, launches mine - a grenade
hanging in the air and hurting everyone except it's owner on close
distance. After 20-80 seconds explodes, spawning 10 more grenades
in random directions, causing small nuclear war :) (Added impulse 100
which allows you to blow up all your mines together -
"bind ENTER impulse 100" in console). There also is a limit of 5
simultaneous mines for each player, so either explode them or wait
until they die.
Uses up 4 rockets.
7. Rocket Launcher - Now is Super Missile Launcher, launches Smart Missile
which homes on players. When it has no players in sight, it hangs
in the air. Lifetime is about one minute. Speed is medium ( a little
slower than Vore's rockets on hard). As with mines, there is a limit
of 10 missiles that each player can have flying around in the world
at the same time.
Uses up 1 of each ammo.
8. Lightning gun - Now is Health Sucker. Transfers health from victim
to you at incredible speed , up to 500%. Then it starts inflicting
even more damage to victim. Uses cells. Doesn't care about the amount
of armour victim has. Nice way to get some health when there are no
super health around :)
Green Armor: now gives you three auto-firing protective Satellites
shooting nails. They also do destroy 100% of opponents Smart Missiles.
They have separate ammo of 100 nails, and disappear after the ammo is gone.
If you pick up green armor when you already have Satellites they will reload
to 100 nails again.
How to Install the Modification
-------------------------------
Create a directory in your Quake directory (eg:dpt) and unzip
the archive in it. Run quake with the -game parameter, eg:
quake -game dpt
add impulse 100 binding to your .cfg if necessary.
Known Bugs
----------
Some *bugs* can be found in single player game, so
again - THIS IS NOT A SINGLE PLAYER addon.
Anyway, with this addon 1-player will be no fun.
It will not crush the game (maybe sometimes),
it will just suck.
(still you can play it 1-player to check all the
weapons in action). Recently made all the weapons
shoot monsters as well as players.
Multiplayer bugs:
1.Mines sometimes fall down on the floor . Solve - nothing bad - it'll
explode anyway...
2.Everything else is probably NOT a bug but a feature,
for example Health Sucker gets health from secret doors and triggers -
- I want it to be this way because that;s better. Easily can be changed
on demand :)
3. Messaging system was corrected from iD's, but if you'll come across
wrong messages I'd be glad to hear about it. Also, for those of
you really interested in how this or that was made in quakeC
